Anticompany I like this

Anticompany is a 37 year old single guy from Washington, Washington DC, USA.
"The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power." --Franklin D. Roosevelt -- ANTICOMPANY.ORG IS A WEBSITE DEDICATED TO PUBLICIZING THE POWER OF CORPORATE INTEREST GROUPS IN USA POLITICS.
The Washington Times VA testing drugs on war veterans

Just two weeks after Mr. Elliott began taking Chantix in November, the VA learned from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that the drug was linked to a large number of hallucinations, suicide attempts and psychotic behavior. But the VA did not alert Mr. Elliott before his own episode in February. In failing to do so, Mr. Elliott said, the VA treated him like a "disposable hero." "You're a lab rat for $30 a month," Mr. Elliott said.

This is just one of many conundrums posed by the proliferation of paramilitary-style police raids. The people on the receiving end of the raids are put in positions where it's nearly impossible to even know what the right response is, much less be in a position to make it. Not to mention that, at the same time, they're being subjected to trauma that makes any sort of clear-headedness or careful consideration of their options pretty much impossible. Make the wrong decision and you're either dead or facing a felony charge.

...the Bush administration sends troops to Iraq with inadequate armor or leave time, covers it up when they get raped and/or killed under suspicious circumstances, subjects wounded troops to Civil War conditions, and screws veterans again and again. [To which I should have added, "and doesn't believe that their service entitles them to a college education unless they re-enlist over and over again."]

ABOUT 200 Camden (Australia) residents cheered wildly as their council formally decided to reject an application for an Islamic school in their area last night... I've read about the horrible time european nations have had with social integration of muslim immigrants so I think this is the correct choice.

Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut is trying to pressure YouTube to pull down videos he does not like, and a recent Senate report and a bill pending in Congress also raise the specter of censorship. It is important for online speech to be protected against these assaults.

More openly than at any time since the Sept. 11 attacks, state and local authorities have begun to complain that the federal financing for domestic security is being too closely tied to combating potential terrorist threats, at a time when they say they have more urgent priorities. (I don't know... they're asking states to prepare responses to iraq-esque roadside bombs / IED's. Kinda freaky..)

Drilling for oil beneath the pristine tundra of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge would do little to ease world oil prices(we're talking lowering the price by 40 cents to a buck forty - PER BARREL, AFTER TEN YEARS), the federal government's energy forecasters said in a new report issued in a week that saw oil surpass $130 per barrel for the first time.
